This spring someone will be presenting a paper on Mad Housers in LA.
My paper session is an urban geography session called "Hopeful Political Economies," and I think the work of the Mad Housers fits really well into that context. Also, the session is in memory of Neil Smith, who wrote a lot about homelessness and urban gentrification in geography. He wrote an essay on "homeless vehicles" in New York City, which initially got me interested in the Mad Housers.
